Is it safe to visit?
Martial law since the 2022 invasion: elections postponed and some rights restricted. Due process is the low rating. Russian drone strikes on civilian targets, up tenfold in 2025, are the danger.
LGBT Rights
LGBT equality in law and daily life — higher is better.

Ranked 67th most equal in the world for LGBT people.
Why this rank?
Legal since 1991 with employment protections, and no partnership law yet, though a civil-partnership bill has wartime momentum. The law index sits at 59, public opinion at 39.
Is it safe to visit?
Reasonable. The war shifted attitudes fast, with openly serving soldiers making the case, and Kyiv Pride returned even under air-raid alerts.
Women's Safety
Women's safety — feeling safe out at night, political violence against women, a fair hearing in court, and how normal violence at home is, with the night figure setting a floor on the colour — higher is better.

Why this rank?
Half of women feel safe out alone at night, the courts rate below fair, and partner violence is nine percent. A few attacks on women were recorded in 2024.
Is it safe to visit?
For a woman travelling alone, Ukraine is a reasonable choice.
